Our client is looking for Beekeepers and Team Leader Beekeeper in Gisborne and Rangitukia! To apply, please fill out the form below and an employer will be in touch with you to discuss the role.

Shifts available:

  1. Team Leader Beekeeper (Gisborne) - $60-70k (salary). 5 years of beekeeping experience

  2. Beekeeper (Gisborne) - $24-27 per hour. Experience preferred but not essential

  3. Beekeeper (Rangitukia) - $24-27 per hour. Experience preferred but not essential

Requirements:

  • Wage rate based on experience

  • 40 hours of work available per week – but we’re flexible, and you can work fewer hours if you wish

  • 12 month fixed term employment

  • Transport to hives provided (Staff report to the Gisborne or Rangitukia yard at the beginning of the shift)

  • Staff report to the yard at the beginning of the shift (Gisborne or Rangitukia)

  • Responsibilities:

    • Manage a team of beekeepers effectively.

    • Utilise extensive beekeeping experience to ensure proper hive and disease management.

    • Plan and oversee day-to-day operations of allocated hives in line with Senior Team Leader expectations.

    • Move hives as required and maintain detailed records of all hive work.

    • Actively manage swarming and disease prevention measures.

    • Follow proper processes to ensure the harvest of high-quality honey.

    • Perform repairs and maintenance on hive ware, sites, and access points.

    • Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations.

    • Record floral sources available in the area for bee foraging.

    • Assist in the development of the Beekeeping Team.

    • Participate in training and development programs as required.

    • Fulfill additional tasks requested by the Senior Team Leader.

    Requirements:

    • Extensive beekeeping experience.

    • Strong leadership and team management skills.

    • Knowledge of hive and disease management processes.

    • Willingness to learn new methods and techniques.

    • Commitment to health and safety practices.

    • Ability to handle the seasonal demands of beekeeping.

  • Responsibilities:

    • Report to the Manager of Ngati Porou Manuka.

    • Utilise prior beekeeping experience to ensure the health and maintenance of hives.

    • Collaborate effectively in a team environment.

    • Understand and implement hive and disease management processes.

    • Remain open to learning new methods and techniques.

    • Prioritise health and safety practices.

    • Adapt to the seasonal demands of beekeeping.

    Duties:

    • Maintain healthy hives on a day-to-day basis in alignment with Senior Team Leader expectations.

    • Move hives as needed.

    • Keep detailed records of all hive work.

    • Actively manage swarming and disease prevention.

    • Follow proper processes to ensure the harvest of high-quality honey.

    • Perform necessary repairs and maintenance on hive ware, sites, and access points.

    • Comply fully with health and safety expectations.

    • Record available floral sources in the area for bee foraging.

    • Assist in the development of Junior Beekeepers.

    • Participate in required training and development programs.

    • Accomplish additional tasks assigned by the Senior Team Leader.
